The President

Educated at Campion Hall Preparatory and St. George's College, G. Richard Fontaine entered the insurance business in 1962 and was trained at Midgal Binyan Insurance Company Limited in London, England where he served as Insurance Inspector for 4 years. He returned to Jamaica in 1966, and established his own firm, Fontaine Brokers Insurance & Finance Jamaica Limited in 1967.

In 1972, Richard Fontaine joined forces with two associates already in the business,  Mr. "Laddie" Kong and Mr. Jackie Fraser, to form a dynamic, independent broking firm, Fraser Fontaine & Kong Limited (FFK).

This merger brought about a new vitality in the Insurance Broking Industry.

G. R. Fontaine, however, assumed total leadership of the company in 1977 after both his co-founders had migrated. Over the years, "G.R.F." has guided FFK's success in the company's local and international operations, building for himself in the process, a reputation of sincerity and integrity in the business world. He maintains that FFK has been able to forge ahead over the years, despite the "ups and downs" in the business environment, because the company has always remained sensitive to the individual needs of its clients. Under his leadership, the organization has seen a considerable increase in its structural growth and client base.

As an individual dedicated to public service,  "G.R.F." has served as Chairman of the Prices Commission for eight years, has been an Executive of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean since 1974, was a founding member and Past President of the Jamaica Insurance Brokers Association, and was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 1989. He has also served as Chairman and member of various finance committees.

From his early days while training, "G.R.F." holds steadfast to a simple philosophy: "Honesty is the Best Policy". It is this philosophy that has helped to build the clients' trust and confidence in FFK over the years, and which has nurtured and fostered some valuable and long-lasting business relationships with the company. As he seeks to meet the challenge of taking a prepared and poised FFK into the 21st Century, he is committed to ensuring that the organization provides a high quality of efficient and professional service to its clients.

G. Richard Fontaine, J.P.
